Richard trained in a commercial practice in London and after qualification continued working in London until moving to Bridport in 1984 and joining Kitson & Trotman in 1998.  Richard advises in contentious and commercial matters and he is a member of both the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and the Equine Lawyers Association.

For business clients, Richard advises on Company and Business formations and Shareholder’s Agreements. His private client practice includes divorce and financial provision upon divorce, particularly where there are business and pension issues.

Outside of professional practice, Richard is a Governor of the Sir John Colfox School, a Trustee of the Bridport Museum and a Committee Member of the local Agricultural Show. He takes a keen interest in promoting links between local schools and local business. Alongside others, he formed the West Dorset Education Industry Partnership Limited, and served as a Director.

Richard is a member of a local cricket team, enjoys water sports and is a keen horseman. He married Ros in 1983 and has two children.
